Well I am trying to get back on the blogging horse and try more creative ideas instead of a standard weekly catch up, I mean granted I'll keep everyone updated with what is going on but this week I wanted to write about a new and deep love of mine. Downton Abbey!
I only just started watching it recently and never watched it when it originally aired in England (a huge regret) and I managed to finish the entire series in like 2 months on and off, perfect timing for the movie to be released in America! I was really bored one day and had no new TV shows to watch. Netflix wasn't great and I couldn't find anything to watch so I thought well I might give Downton a go. Everyone loved it when it was on and BOY WERE THEY RIGHT!
I can't get over how much I loved it and how I was hooked on it after only one episode. I think what I love about it is how British it is and how Historical it is. I used to love History at school and I am always watching some sort of History Documentary. It is probably the most beautiful TV show ever (yeah a bold statement but true) and I became so invested in the Crawley household very quickly. I love the characters and how in depth they are, watching Downton makes me think that the Crawley family and all the staff were real people. The Actors are unbelievably talented and I am so obsessed with them! I would say that most of the characters are my favourites but definitely my top 5 are Tom Branson, Mr Barrow, Anna, Mr Bates and Mr Carson. I just think they are all such strong characters and that the Actors really make Downton.
The costumes and settings of Downton are works of art really. I love vintage fashion and think that the dresses, uniforms and everyday clothes are just amazing, the detail and preciseness of the era are spot on! I mean there are so many beautiful costumes that it would be a long post if I listed every costume that I loved from the show. Also can we talk about how beautiful Highclere Castle is? I was so shook by how beautiful it was and all the details in it. Its so historically accurate and
Whenever I was feeling homesick or generally just down about everything I would whack on an episode of Downton and feel distracted in the best way possible! It instantly cheered me up and made England not feel so far away. It also makes me believe that love is an actual thing and not some myth only for lucky people. The relationships between characters, is one of the many things that makes this show so special!
Anyway, thats my little appreciation post about Downton, and I am very hyped for the movie coming out! You bet my ass will be running to the cinema to see it!
